Quarter Scale Model Of The Kristin Rig

Most of the testing carried out at Stoneman Solutions for the offshore gas rig projects makes use of scale models.

The picture shows our quarter scale Kristin rig. This has a 167m long corrugated pipe (not shown) that generates noise levels of around 140 dB when air is pumped through it at 15m/s. Extensive testing has shown that the quarter scale model has the same fundamental acoustic characteristics to the actual rig.

The testing took place over several months and involved recording and analysing data, using SQLab II, from 22 microphones on the rig.
